Erap, during his time, was like a puppet swaying wherever his drinking buddies had directed to do so. Today, rightly or wrongly, P-Noy is perceived is influenced greatly in his appointment of government officials and making decisions by allies derogatively termed as KKK: "Kaibigan (friends), "Kaklase" (classmates) and "Kabarilan" (shooting buddies).
For instance, P-Noy is deemed highly protective of Undersecretary Rico Puno and LTO head Virginia Torres whose controversial performance is somewhat abetted to the detriment of
public welfare. His preference for such bungling appointees despite adverse findings/recommendations of immediate superiors conveys the unfortunate impression that he is willing to sacrifice the national interest for the sake of his cronies and friends. He definitely belies his oft proclaimed pronouncements that the people are his masters.
The people knew his limitations that he succeeded an administration which left a legacy of widespread corruption and abuses. Thus, he's not expected to perform miracles in the very first year of his administration considering the gargantuan problems left by the Arroyo regime. Nevertheless, he must improve considerably on the barely passing mark given to him by the business community on his second year in office. Otherwise, if he fails to arrest his plunging popularity ratings, his capability to rule will be seriously undermined by the rising public dissatisfaction and discontent which may cause an avalanche of vehement protests through cyberspace and the streets. As history tends to repeat itself, then the possibility of P-Noy suffering the fate of Erap may not be far fetched.
