My Upcoming Blog in Tagalog (Filipino or Taglish Whatsoever)

My failed ambition to be a journalist has somewhat found satisfaction and exhilarating sense of fulfillment when I joined the wonderful world of Bloggers. Furthermore, Blogging has likewise filled up the void left by the unexpected disappearance of INBOX WORLD from the pages of the Philippine STAR of which I am a loyal participant since its inception.

I must admit I derive immense pleasure from Blogging as my command of the English language is further sharpened and developed with new literary horizons to delve in. However, since I have learned to be bi-lingual in speaking and writing in English and Tagalog, from my school years, I believe it will be a waste of resources if I won't try blogging in Tagalog.

I remember a foreign writer whose name I can't recall who expressed his admiration for the beauty of Tagalog as the embodiment of the characteristics of various foreign languages. Prior to writing this Blog, I tried to Google this particular statement without success but many will certainly agree and appreciate said foreigner's praise of the Tagalog language.

In the Blogs I will write very soon in Tagalog, I shall refrain from using words preferred by purists but use them in their original form with slight modification. During the 70's, there were moves by the purists in the National Language Historical Commission to develop Tagalog equivalent of certain English words which became the butts of many naughty exchanges among conversations of students at that time.

An example was the purists term for chair which became "salungpuwit" as "salung" means roughly to carry while "puwit" is the Tagalog word for behind.  Common repartees then were the purists term for bra or brassiere would be "salungsuso" and for the male underwear or briefs would be "salungitlog" or "salungbayag" ("itlog" and "bayag" Tagalog terms for male testicles).

Accordingly, my upcoming Tagalog Blog will henceforth be known as "LAKBAY-DIWA SA LAHAT NG PANAHON" or MIND TRAVEL OF ALL TIMES. Watch for further announcements.
